I love the change of seasons. It’s a good reminder that even though something is coming to an end, there is something new and fresh to look forward to. I love the way Maya Elious describes fall, “the trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let the dead things go.” This reminds me of Isaiah 43:18-19, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Be encouraged, friends. Let this be a reminder to let go of the old and move forward into the great things God has planned for you.
There is something about the fall that creates a feeling of warmth and comfort. The air is crisp, the leaves are crunchy, and we are digging our cozy sweaters and warm boots out of the closet. But sometimes those cool days can get the best of us, so today I’m sharing my favorite 5 ways to stay cozy in the fall.
5 Ways to Stay Cozy in the Fall
1. Snuggle.
My 4 year old’s favorite saying is, “mama, can you snuggle me?” He has learned the comfort and security in a good snuggle and I get to reap the benefits. How lucky I am!!! I always want a good blanket when snuggling though. This chunky knit throw by Artizen Home is perfect for snuggling in your favorite spot on those cold days. And how darn cute is this snuggle is real pillow! I love adding tons of throw pillows in my decor (even if they never stay in place because my 4 year old thinks they are meant for building forts). And you guys know my love for black + white buffalo check so this buffalo check throw is a must have for me. Doesn’t it look so warm and snuggly?
2. Smell.
My favorite thing to do on a cold fall day is to light a fall-scented candle on my coffee table and curl up on the sofa in my cozy flannel PJs with a good book. I can not get enough of Kim Leggett’s book City Farmhouse Style. There is soooo much amazing inspiration in this book! And burning this leaves candle from Sweet Water Decor encompasses all things fall into a single candle! It is delightful!
3. Sip.
Happy Pumpkin Spice Season! Yes, it is a real thing (at least in my mind). Seriously though, warm beverages, whether it’s coffee, tea, hot cocoa, or cider are a must to keep warm and cozy in the fall. And of course you need a cute mug to do that with. This pumpkin spice mug is speaking my language! Just pour me a little pumpkin spice coffee in there and I am set! Or I’d take it in this hammered copper Moscow mule mug. I’m not picky. 😉
4. Stay.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like I am constantly on the go. There is always somewhere to go and something to do. As the weather gets cooler, it keeps us indoors, resulting in us staying home more. And I love it! Fall is a season where we intentionally set aside time in our busy schedules to surround ourselves with the people we love. I love cold days where we all stay inside, light a fire in the fireplace, and make s’mores and drink hot cocoa. Those are memories that we create with our children that I hope they cherish forever. I found these adorable “Let’s Stay Home” scroll, sign, and pillow on Etsy. They are great reminders that staying home is a wonderful thing.
5. Savor.
I live in Louisiana y’all. There is nothing that says fall more than having a big pot of gumbo on the stove. Can I get an Amen from all of my Louisiana friends!? If the temp drops below 80 degrees in Louisiana, I guarantee someone is making gumbo (and it’s probably me). This kitchen towel says it perfectly! Just the smell of something cooking in the kitchen is comforting. My favorite pot to cook gumbo in is my cast iron dutch oven. It makes the best roux ever! If you aren’t quite sure how to make a gumbo, or even a roux for that matter, this is my go-to cookbook for all my Louisiana favorite recipes.
I hope these ideas have given you are warm and cozy feeling. I’d love to hear your ideas on how create a warm and cozy space in the fall. Be blessed, my friends, and take hold of all that God has planned for you this season! xoxo

Lovely post, thanks for sharing <3
I’m trading the pumpkin spice for Apple cider. It makes me think of home and family memories. Thanks for the reminder to enjoy the fall.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
I love all these things that make Fall so much better! I need to get that pumpkin spice ground coffee to make it at home instead.
oh I love that chunky cream throw! Love throws to cosy up in the evenings with the fire on.
Love ❤️ Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! I am in the south too…so anything that reminds me it gets cold somewhere is a blessing. Blankets, mugs, coffee, and soup/chilli are my fav…I mean honestly, it isn’t fall until you have used those things, right?!
Snuggling my munchkins is my favorite!! It is one of the best parts of Fall/winter weather! Great post!
I love the fall and your perfect list! You’re right, we do tend to “stay indoors” more when the weather gets cold and do all the other activities that you mentioned. Time to snuggle up and sip some hot tea!
You have such a great taste! I also loove the changing of seasons to decor the house, specially in autumn and.. xmas!!
