Hi friends. I made it home from a relaxing week of vacation with my family at the beach. We had an amazing time and made some wonderful memories, but now it’s time to get back to reality.
Blogs need to blogged, laundry needs to be laundered, and the foyer still needs to be painted — if you missed our recent shiplap install, you can check it out [HERE].
And on top of that, I hosted a baby shower for my sweet sister-in-love today. I absolutely love planning parties! Anytime there is a party to be planned, I’m all in.
I usually get completely obsessed with every. single. detail. However, this one was pretty much thrown together in a day due to my lack of planning prior to my vacation. This is so unlike me. But hey, it happens sometimes, right?
So, this post is for all my procrastinating friends… how to “throw together” a baby shower at the last minute.
The Cake
I picked up a bouquet of artificial flowers at my local dollar store and placed them on this beautiful pink doberge cake from my local grocery store. BAM! Cake = check.
I’m almost ashamed to say that I didn’t make or bake anything. Everything was store bought. I picked up cupcakes, cookies, and donuts for the sweets (I tried to stick to pink and white as much as I could). We had chips & dips, veggie & fruit trays, and a few other finger foods.
The Decor
The one thing I did pick up before vacation were these adorable fans. I found them in the clearance isle at Home Goods. And my awesome niece, Kinley, made the garland out of plastic table cloths while my sister and I were setting up for the party.
I also purchased the gifts before vacation. This adorable sign came from Hobby Lobby and I was able to incorporate it into the decor.
The Nursery
Now I’d like to take you on a tour of the nursery that my sweet niece, Skylar Grace, will be brought home to. Her bedding was made by a friend of my sister-in-law. Isn’t it adorable!
This piece of furniture was my brother’s first attempt at chalk painting and distressing. I think he 100% nailed it! Wouldn’t you guys agree? And those knobs! LOVE!
This cute little onesie was another part of her gift. I ordered it from Brenna at EllyandGrace. She has the sweetest inspirational tees for women & little ones!
I also want to share a picture from a baby shower that I hosted for a co-worker this past winter. I set up a cute little hot chocolate bar. As you can see, I love to decorate with fans. They are inexpensive and so cute. And this pom-pom garland is super easy to make.
So, it is possible to throw together a last minute baby shower, even for obsessive planners like me.
We can’t wait to meet you, Skylar Grace!
You are so talented babe!! I think that God has opened the door for you to do what you truly love. I Love You More!!!
