A few weeks ago, my husband and I were planning a trip to Round Top, Texas for the Winter Antique Show. We were planning to make it a quick weekend trip to fill up the trailer with goodies to bring to our store. I had already made arrangements for my MIL to stay with the kiddos and we were excited about having a kid-free getaway (a VERY RARE occasion for us). We were planning to stay in the closest hotel we could find so we wouldn’t have too far to travel when shopping. The day before we were planning to leave, my husband and I both agreed that we were feeling anxious about leaving the kids. The life of parenthood. Why do we feel this guilt about leaving our kids!?
So I did what any normal parent would do. I jumped on Airbnb and started looking for places that we could potentially stay and bring the family with us. 😉 And you guys, I found the PERFECT place!
We called my MIL and asked her if she would be willing to come with us and watch the kids at the cabin while we were out shopping. She agreed. And the plans were made.
I booked Piney Woods Cabin on Airbnb and it was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Actually, my kids loved it so much that they wanted me to ask the owner if she would sell it to us.

Piney Woods Cabin is located in LaGrange, Texas, which is about 15 miles from Round Top. It was a nice peaceful drive to Round Top, with no traffic. We also traveled to the nearby historic town of Smithville for dinner and ice cream one night. Amy’s Ice Cream Shop is a must visit!
The Amenities & Decor
For a decor lover, this “cabin” is a dream. The decor is absolutely magazine worthy! I fell in love with the farm sink and jadeite collection. And my boys fell in love with the fun loft. The cabin felt so cozy and comfortable and there was plenty of room for all of us.
The cabin came with all the essentials to make our stay easy and comfortable. There were plenty of linens, towels, bath amenities, dishes, coffee, board games and books. There is no TV or Wifi, which was much appreciated by our family. It allowed us to spend uninterrupted time together as a family.
Even the bathroom is a dreamy space!
The property is so calming and serene. The cabin is secluded in 20 acres of beautiful pine forest. We were able to see deer from the porch, listen to the ripple of the creek, and take a peaceful canoe ride on the pond. My boys had a great time walking the hiking trails, exploring the grounds and keeping the campfire going.
Valerie is an amazing host! We had the pleasure of meeting her in person and she instantly felt like family. She had so many sweet, personal touches waiting for us upon arrival. Her communication during the booking process was superb. And she shared lots of great recommendations on where to shop and eat while we were there. The cabin was amazing, but it was getting to meet her that made the trip even more special.
Even though my husband and I didn’t get our weekend alone as we originally planned, we had such an amazing time with our family and made some beautiful memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. Piney Woods Cabin is definitely on our list of places to return and we can’t wait to go back!
Whether you are planning a couples getaway, a family trip, or a weekend with the girls, I highly recommend checking out Piney Woods Cabin for your stay. You can head over to Airbnb to check out more of the details.
