Hello my beautiful friends. Can you all believe that my kids and I had an entire week off of school and work due to snow!? We live in Louisiana, y’all. When it snows, the cities shut down. And I’m not mad about it. I stayed in my PJs and no makeup for an entire week. Anyway, it gave me lots of free time to catch up on some projects and I am so excited to share this DIY for no-sew pillows with you today.
Throw pillows are the best. I have them all over my house. They can transform any area to make it feel more cozy. But they can be pretty costly. Today, I’m going to share how to make no-sew pillows from placemats. Say what? Yep, you read that right. Placemats.
If you read my post, How to Make Burlap Pumpkins, you remember how much I despise sewing. Therefore, I am constantly looking for projects that don’t require any sewing. And this one only requires 4 supplies!

What you need:
Double-ply Placemat (MUST be double-ply)
What you’ll do:
Stuff the poly-fill through the hole, making sure it is packed in well so your pillow is nice and fluffy. Most packs of poly fill come with a wood stick that looks like a chop stick. You can use this to shove the filling down in to the corners.
My 4 year old helped me with this project and his little hand fit through the hole perfectly to stuff the filling in. I love that my boys like to help momma with projects. Anytime they see me working on something, they are ready to jump in and help. Even if I can’t really use their help on a particular project, I always set them up with a project they can work on. I want them to develop a love of creating like momma. 😉
Once you get all of your filling in, place a small line of fabric glue on the seam to seal the fabric back. I held the fabric together for about a minute after I closed the edges to make sure it sealed good. You can’t even tell that the seem was ever ripped.
You’re done! Seriously. Can you believe how simple that was? With this simple DIY, you can make about 4 pillows for the price of one. I love deals like that! Actually, when I purchased these placemats, my sister was with me and I told her I was going to turn them into pillows. She said, but they already have pillows made in that exact same fabric. Ah, yes they do, but they are $25 and these placemats are $5. This girl is all about decorating on a budget!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I can’t wait to see the pillows you create! Tag me on Instagram so I can check them out. Be blessed my friends! xoxo
