Good day, my friends, and happy Friday! Have you all noticed the wood bead garland trend lately? I have to admit, I’m a little obsessed. I first spotted them on Instagram and knew it was a must have for my wannabe farmhouse. The natural wood brings so much warmth and there are so many ways to accessorize your home with these beauties. If you are not into making your own wood bead garland, Kristi at The Pickled Rose has the most beautiful beads ever. Hop on over to her Etsy store and take a look.
I wouldn’t really consider myself a crafter, however, this one is super simple. Sometimes I look at things and think to myself “I can make that,” but when it comes down to it… well you know… don’t act like you’ve never been there. We’ve all had those Pinterest fails. But this one is different. Pinky promise. So let’s get started!

To make the tassel, wrap the jute around your hand until you reach your desired thickness (about 15-20 times).
Cut the end of the jute and carefully slip it off your hand. Make sure both end pieces are hanging down from the top of your bundle.
Then take another piece of jute and wrap it around the top of your tassel (about 1/4″ from the top) to create a neck. Wrap as thick as you’d like it then tie it off and cut the ends.
Cut the loop on the opposite end of the tassel and trim the ends. And now you have your tassel. How easy peasy was that!? And, guess what.. the next part is even easier.
Cut a long piece of jute (a little longer than you want your garland) and thread it through the top of your tassel and tie a knot.
You don’t have to cut the short end off. Just thread your beads through that part as well. You can add a piece of tape to the top of your jute to keep it from fraying so it threads easier. Continue adding beads until you reach your desired length (I used 30).
Once you reach your desired length, you have several options. You can just end it with a bead and tie a knot at the end, you can make another tassel to add to the other end, or you can tie a wood tag or charm to the end. I added the wood tag I linked above. I painted it with a metallic gold paint and wrote Love on it.
And there you go. You now have a beautiful wood bead garland to accessorize your home with. And these make beautiful, inexpensive gifts as well.
There are so many different possibilities with this project to stamp your own style on it. You can paint your beads, use colored twine or yarn for tassel, add a key or some other charm to one of the ends… the possibilities are endless. I’d love for you to comment below and let me hear your amazing ideas. And tag me on Instagram so I can see pics of your beautiful wood bead garland.
