Does your kitchen pantry get neglected because it’s behind closed doors? Kitchen pantries are known to be pretty plain and boring, and quite possibly a bit messy. But I’m here to give you some kitchen pantry ideas and organization tips that will take your pantry to one of your most favorite places in your home.
Our previous house had a nice big kitchen pantry with lots of shelving and storage space. It was fabulous! Then we moved. And you know how the rest of the story goes. Unfortunately, the kitchen pantry in our current home leaves a lot to be desired. I had to get a little creative with my kitchen pantry ideas and organization. I’m going to show you all how I did just that.

Kitchen Pantry Ideas
Customize your Kitchen Pantry
Most kitchen pantries are pretty simple. They have a few shelves and that’s about it. Think about customizing your pantry to make the best use of the space and more functional for your needs. This may mean adding more shelving, pull-out shelves, dividers, or drawers. If you are needing some inspiration for your kitchen pantry ideas, just head over to Closet Works. They have an amazing gallery that is sure to inspire you!
Pantry Lighting
When I think about kitchen pantry ideas, lighting is not something that usually comes to mind. Until you have a pantry with no lighting and you basically have to use a flash light to find anything. True story. Even if your pantry is not wired for lighting, you can put in a motion sensor battery-powered light.
Or if you do have wiring, you could consider adding something like this bell pendant. It’s 70% off y’all!! I’m seriously considering getting 3 and putting them away for over the bar when we do our kitchen reno. What do y’all think?
Visually Appealing Kitchen Pantry Ideas
We all know that our kitchen pantry is something that we open quite often. Most likely several times a day if we are being honest here. So why not make it beautiful. One way to make your pantry beautiful is to add a fresh coat of paint. I actually did this in my recent pantry makeover. I really wanted to add fun peel and stick wallpaper, but I ran out of time before this post. It is still on my to-do list!
Maximize Space in Your Pantry
Make use of all of the space in your pantry, even the floor and door. The floor is a good place to put baskets to store drinks and paper goods in. This 8 tier adjustable cabinet door organizer is also a great way to gain more storage space in your pantry.
Now if you just flat out don’t have enough space in your pantry, you can always get creative and add a baker’s rack in your kitchen like my IG friend, Jenny @bigfamilylittlefarmhouse.

Organization Ideas
Use Clear Canisters
I’m slightly obsessed with clear canisters in the pantry. I used OXO canisters and truly believe they are the best! I think the canisters add to the overall visual appearance and they also make it easy to find what you are looking for. So it’s a win win in my book.
Label Canisters & Bins
I labeled all of my canisters and bins with labels from Talented Kitchen. They are the absolute cutest! And there is seriously a label for all the things.
Create Zones in your Kitchen Pantry
A great kitchen pantry idea is to divide your pantry into zones to keep your food organized. Examples of zones are grouping together baking supplies, breads, pastas, snacks, and so forth. Zoning your pantry helps you keep track of what you have.
Meal Planning in the Pantry
Each week, create a few baskets with all the ingredients that you need for a weeknight dinner to place in your pantry. On those busy weeknights, when it’s time to cook, pull out the basket and you have everything ready to go!
