Hello friends. Today, I’d like to share something really exciting with you all!! This week I finished the course Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing and I am so excited to share some of my thoughts about the course. If you are anything like me, you have a billion questions about affiliate marketing. So I thought I’d try to answer some of those today.
I know this is a little different than my traditional posts of home decor and DIY, but I’ve had so many of my readers ask me about starting a blog. In these last 2 months of blogging, I have learned so much. I’m trying to document everything that I learn and the questions that I’ve had along the way so that I can share it with those of you who may be new to blogging or thinking about starting a blog.
I started this blog to share home decor styles and products that I love with my readers. Honestly, in the beginning, I never even considered the fact that I could get paid to do this. As I started reading other blogs and learning more about how to become a successful blogger, the term affiliate marketing kept coming up over and over again. Truthfully, I didn’t really know what it was and I was so consumed with getting my blog kicked off in the first month, that I just kind of overlooked it. Big mistake. Nobody likes to leave money on the table, including me.
So let me share some of the questions about affiliate marketing that I’ve had and the answers that I’ve found.
What is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is an easy way to earn income for something that you are probably already doing. It is a marketing arrangement where an online retailer pays a commission for traffic or sales generated from referrals. Basically, you earn money by sharing products that you love. And the bonus is that it doesn’t cost anything extra for your readers. That’s it. Easy peasy.
Is affiliate marketing worth the effort?
I was a little overwhelmed when I first decided to start monetizing my blog. I must have read a bazillion blogs about how to be a successful blogger. At first, I thought it was just too much trouble to bother with affiliate marketing. That is, until I found Michelle’s course, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, and she simplified it step-by-step for this simple girl. Seriously, if you are not monetizing your blog, you are leaving money on the table!
How many followers should I have before I start affiliate marketing?
One of the concerns that I had before deciding to monetize was that I didn’t have enough followers. I thought it wouldn’t really be worth my time. However, Michelle points out very quickly that you don’t need a huge audience or an insane amount of page views in order to make money with affiliate marketing. With this course, you can succeed at affiliate marketing even if you are a brand new blogger, as I am.
