Happy first day of spring, friends! Is it just me or does anyone else ever wonder how things originated? Like who in the heck coined “spring cleaning?” After the cold and dreary winter days, when the sun finally starts to shine, a fresh breeze fills the air and everything is coming to life, who wants to be inside cleaning!? I’ve had to ponder this and here is the theory I’ve come up with… we want our home to feel like a fresh new spring season; to be bright, airy, fresh, clean and decluttered. I know. That still doesn’t make spring cleaning any more enjoyable. But today, I’ll share some tips to make it doable.

I must admit that I get a little ADD when cleaning. I start cleaning one thing, then I see something else that needs to be done so my attention turns to that. Before you know it, I’m putting DVDs in alphabetical order when my intent was to get my house cleaned.
I’m a list kinda girl. I make a list for everything. It keeps me focused and on track. Soooo, I figured why not make a list to keep me on track for this spring cleaning business and share it with all of my wonderful friends. Download your own copy of my Spring Cleaning ChecklistΒ {HERE} to start checking off your boxes (or scroll to the end of this post and click on the checklist image). Isn’t it so satisfying to check off boxes? Or maybe that’s just me.
Spring cleaning is not something you will do in a day. Unless you have super powers. And if that’s the case, please come to my house. I’ve set this up to focus on one room a day. You can knock them out in consecutive days. Or if you are a working mom like myself, you use your evenings and weekends. Just start with the first box and work your way down the list until you get everything checked off. You got this!
I love using natural cleaning products, such as Mrs. Meyer’s. The Radish scent is my absolute favorite! I love to order my eco-friendly cleaning products through Grove Collaborative. They offer a subscription service that allows you to stay restocked and on budget by picking your favorite household and cleaning products on a customized schedule.
Gather all of your cleaning items and put them in a little caddy, make yourself your favoritest drink, put your earbuds in, turn your jam on, and let’s get busy.
Tips to Simplify your Spring Cleaning:
- Gather all supplies before you start.
- Make a list and check off as you go.

I love this! You have simplified it to where I may actually get it done π my ADD gets me when I clean, I start one project then jump to the next before it’s finished but I definitely thing this will help!
LOL! You sound exactly like me. Hopefully this list will help us both. π
This is a great list Heather. I love lists, and downloaded this to keep me on track with the spring cleaning this year. I love to freshen up everything in the spring and can’t wait to move on outside and get the patios and decks spruced up too!
Thank you, Lisa! I’d much rather clean outside than inside. Hmmm, I wonder if I could get the hubs to switch projects with me. π
It looks so easy laid out like this! I struggle with getting from the thinking about doing the spring cleaning to actually making myself do it – but broken up like this, it seems more doable somehow. Getting half way through the process is my goal for March! One thing I’ve noticed though, is getting rid of extra stuff gets easier and easier the more you do it! And wow, does it feel good. π .
Oh I completely agree! I always love getting rid of “stuff.” My husband fusses me all the time because he says I get rid of too much, but I just don’t like a lot of clutter. And hey, if it hasn’t been used in 6 months, then you don’t need it, right!? π
Ohhhhh my goodness, I needed this post. I get sidetracked as well when I’m trying to clean, and I end up organizing my cabinets when my whole intent was to clean the bathrooms. I printed out your list from above and taped it to my fridge, and perhaps I can delegate other members of the household to help give the house a good thorough cleaning.
Yay! So glad this was helpful for you!! I am the absolute same way and that’s why I had to make this checklist. π
Love this checklist! I’m tempted to share it with my husband – see if he can handle it π
Lol! I think that’s a great idea!! I might have to try that myself. π
I am not a mum but these are really handy tips! I am a stickler for keeping things clean so always looking for new tricks and tips!
Thanks for sharing!
