Happy Sunday, friends! For those of you in Louisiana, my prayers are with you!! I hope you’ve weathered this storm okay. As I’m typing this, I honestly don’t know if the worst is past us yet. But I am choosing to trust God in the storm.
Have you ever found it difficult to trust God in a storm, whether it be a weather storm or life storm? I think we all have at some point in time. Today I’m going to share 4 strategies to help build your trust in God.

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. – Matthew 8:26
We know that storms can cause a lot of damage. They disrupt our lives, causing us to stop everything else and focus on that particular storm. They cause fear and panic, while taking away our peace and joy.
But what if God is using that storm to test and grow your faith? How you respond makes all the difference. When we weather storms in our life, it grows us and produces perseverance. God has purpose in the storms.
4 Strategies to Trust God
1. Read
Reading God’s word will reveal His true character. Knowing God is trusting Him. He is faithful and true. If we don’t know the promises He has spoken to us, it is hard to trust them. Reading His word will teach us not only how to trust, but how good and faithful God is.
2. Pray
If you are having a hard time trusting God, let Him know. He wants you to be real and raw with Him. He wants to hear the cry of your heart so that He may comfort you. Pray and ask Him to strengthen your trust in Him.
3. Listen
Listen for the whispers of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what moves these truths from our head to our heart. Sometimes it’s an obvious shout and sometimes it’s a faint whisper. Most times we have to learn to be still and listen to fully hear the Spirit.
4. Remember
When I am questioning life’s circumstances and how I’m going to make it through, I always remind myself of previous circumstances that God has brought me through. Remembering His faithfulness always fills me with hope and trust.
In the midst of any storm, we can trust that God is in complete control. If we take our eyes off of the storm and fix them on Jesus, we will see that He is our anchor in the storm. Trust Him.
